🌙 Skeptical? You don’t have to believe in it — you just have to try it.
Nearly 200,000 people in 40 countries now use Helight Sleep.
This is the story — of red light, sleep, and a small family company. We’re celebrating our 5th anniversary, as the device was launched in October 2020.
We’re often told there aren’t any large-scale studies.
Yet there’s a basic principle in science: not having proven an effect doesn’t mean the effect doesn’t exist.
The story of red light is still young — supported by several small studies, scientific articles, and clinical reviews.
From NASA’s research on circadian rhythm regulation to multiple academic papers and user experiences around the world, all point in the same direction: red light has a real and measurable impact on relaxation and sleep quality.
💤 A Science-Based Innovation Tested by Thousands
The device emits a precise-intensity red light at 630 nanometers for 14 minutes, then gradually fades out over the next 14 minutes — because it’s important to sleep in darkness. This wavelength passes through your eyelids and is detected by photosensitive cells, triggering a biomechanism that helps you relax and naturally prepares your body to produce melatonin.
This patented 28-minute protocol reproduces the gradual light changes that occur at sunset — the biological signal your brain interprets as the time to unwind and get ready for sleep.
🧠 The Recent History of Red Light and Sleep
2012 — The Groundbreaking Basketball Study
A pioneering clinical trial showed that exposure to red light before bedtime improves sleep quality and muscle recovery.

2019 — Mariana G. Figueiro’s Sleep-Inertia Study
The American researcher demonstrated that red light can significantly reduce sleep inertia — the grogginess and slowed reaction time that occur right after waking up.

2019 — Research by Duforez & GronfierFrench scientists Dr François Duforez and Dr Claude Gronfier confirmed the potential positive effects of red light on sleep quality in humans. A recent study reports that exposure to red light before turning off the lights may help facilitate falling asleep.

2024 — The Landmark Strasbourg University Study
A major academic paper offered the clearest evidence yet: “In mice, red light induces sleep via melanopsin and specific brain pathways. These novel results open important perspectives for understanding how light influences physiology and behavior.”

Dr Clifford Saper (Harvard Medical School)
According to studies by Dr. Clifford Saper and colleagues (Sleep State Switching, 2010;| Wake–Sleep Circuitry: An Overview, 2017), the fundamental brain circuits that regulate sleep and wakefulness are highly conserved across mammals — meaning that mice and humans share similar neuronal systems controlling these states.
🚀 NASA Research
Work by Dr Charles Czeisler (Harvard Medical School / NASA) has shown that light modulation helps astronauts regulate their circadian rhythm.
https://magazine.hms.harvard.edu/articles/blues-cues
On the International Space Station, engineers implemented a tunable lighting system:Sleep scientists have found that when these receptors are exposed to a particular wavelength of blue light—incidentally, sky blue—we feel more alert, because the brain suppresses melatonin, a key hormone in regulating sleep. In contrast, red-spectrum light allows the melatonin to flow.
💡 Blue light → boosts alertness.
💡 Red light → lets melatonin flow naturally before sleep.

⚙️ A Globally Patented Technology
Helight Sleep relies on a unique, patented protocol developed with neuroscientists and chronobiologists.
Its automatic 28-minute fade-down sequence reproduces the gradual sunset transition, guiding your body into rest and melatonin release.

🩺 What Doctors Say
Helight Sleep is endorsed by several board-certified sleep specialists who appreciate its simplicity, safety, and measurable effects.
“Recent studies suggest that exposure to sunset light — going outside at dusk, even on cloudy days — those softened blues from the evening light spectrum send your brain enough of a signal to reduce the impact of any blue light you’re exposed to later in the evening. This is very recent data.”
“Exposure to red light in the evening, such as Helight Sleep, particularly during the nighttime period of melatonin release, can increase melatonin production, making it more likely to fall asleep, stay asleep, and/or return to sleep.
Effective! Reduces sleep onset time. Evening red-light exposure quickly becomes an important addition to a bedtime routine. I use it every night.
I turn it on when I go to bed.”
— Dr. Ed O’Malley, Integrative Sleep Medicine Specialist
“Using low-intensity red light (such as Helight) before bedtime helps you fall asleep and reduces the time it takes to drift off.”
— Dr. Angela Holliday-Bell, Board-Certified Pediatrician and Sleep Expert
“I recommend it to my patients because it’s very helpful.”
“It works! It reduces the time it takes to fall asleep. I was skeptical at first, but it’s improved my sleep quality.”
— Dr. Pedram Navab, Neurologist & Sleep Medicine Specialist
“Red light really works for me. I recommend it in my clinic.”
— Dr. Arthur J. Ting, Sports Medicine Clinic
“Subjectively, I must say that I fall asleep quickly, and my nighttime awakenings are less frequent.”
— Dr. Leonard Zaichkowsky, Performance Consultant
🏉 What Athletes and Coaches Say
Helight Sleep is now used by athletes and coaches from the MLS, NFL, NHL, MLB, NBA, Premier League, FIFA World Cup and the Olympics. Sleep is the cornerstone of recovery and has a significant impact on performance. For sports professional, Helight Sleep is a competitive advantage.
